Cremorne EV Charger Installation, Done Properly

An EV charger install covers more ground than just mounting the unit. Here's the scope of a typical job.

Capacity assessment. The switchboard gets checked against the extra draw before we write the quote, so there's no surprise once work is underway.

Dedicated circuit installation. The charger runs on its own circuit, sized correctly rather than sharing load with the rest of the house.

Charger mounting and wiring. The unit goes up in the spot that suits your car and driveway or car space, wired in cleanly.

Cable routing. Runs are planned around walls, garages and, in strata buildings, shared car park infrastructure.

Dedicated safety switch. The charger circuit carries its own RCD protection, isolated from every other circuit in the home.

Testing and sign-off. Every install is tested before we leave, with the paperwork lodged for notifiable work.

Cremorne's housing runs across three distinct waves, from pre-1940 Federation and California Bungalow houses through to 1960s-1980s blocks and newer 2000s-plus apartment builds, and each one changes how an EV charger install actually plays out.

The older Federation houses, some clustered near streets like Gerard Street, were wired for a household with none of today's electric-vehicle draw in mind, so a board check almost always comes first.

Newer builds tend to have more headroom already designed in, which usually means a more straightforward install once we've confirmed circuit capacity. Even so, we look rather than guess on every quote.

Apartment blocks from the middle era raise a different question again: whether the charger sits on an individual meter or needs sign-off through the building's shared supply.
